BIOS settings

BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System. The main purpose of the BIOS is to identify and initiate component hardware, like the hard drive, ethernet port and USB ports, which allows the operating system to load.

To enter the BIOS, press the Delete key right after the ICS is powered on.

Determining Boot Order

In the BIOS, you can specify which device it looked to first during the boot up process. To protect the ICS from booting off a USB memory stick infected with a virus or any other device potentially infected with a virus, Inveneo highly recommends setting the hard drive as the first and only boot device. Also, if the ICS is set to first boot off another device, an unauthorized user can potentially erase Inveneo Desktop Linux. For example, if the first device is a USB CD-ROM, a user can plug in a USB CD-ROM with an installation CD and reimage the ICS.

Setting the Boot Order

  1. Press the delete key as soon as the ICS is powered on.
  2. Use the arrow keys to highlight in red "Advanced BIOS Features"
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Using the down arrow key, select the "First Boot Device."
  5. Press Enter.
  6. Using the arrow keys, select "HDD-0."
  7. Press Enter.
  8. Using the down arrow key, select the "Second Boot Device."
  9. Press Enter.
  10. Using the arrow keys, select "Disabled."
  11. Press Enter.
  12. Using the down arrow key, select the "Third Boot Device."
  13. Press Enter.
  14. Using the arrow keys, select "Disabled."
  15. Press Enter.
  16. Press the F10 Key
  17. Do you want to save the settings? "y"
  18. Press the enter key.
  19. The system will reboot.

Password Protecting the BIOS

Since BIOS passwords are easy to loose, Inveneo does not recommend using a BIOS password.
