Manual Time Not Saved Workedarounds

When the Date and Time panel, accessible from Start->Administration->Date and Time, is set to Manual configuration, the Desktop fails to remember the new time on reboot. Save Configuration also fails to properly save the time across reboots.

Workaround: manually set Hardware Clock after Save Configuration

After setting Date and Time to Manual configuration and setting a new Time, the following steps will make sure the time is properly saved.

  1. Close Date and Time panel
  2. Save configuration via Start->Administration->Save Configuration
  3. Open a terminal via Start->Administration->Terminal
  4. Type the following command and enter the standard administration password when prompted:
    sudo hwclock --systohc
  5. Close terminal
