These are instructions for the simplest printer configuration - a printer and an ICS. This configuration is best when there is only one computer or you want to limit users access to the printer by only allowing one computer to print.

  1. Connect the USB printer to the Inveneo Computing Station with a USB cable.
  2. Power on the printer.
  3. Click Start > Administration > Configure Printers.
  4. Type in the administrator password and click OK.
  5. Double-click New Printer.
  6. The message "Readng printer database..." will appear (it may take a few minutes before the "Add a Printer" window appears).
  7. The Inveneo Desktop Linux (IDL) will automatically detect printers.
  8. Click the Forward button.
  9. The IDL will automatically detect supported printers and fill in the “Manufacturer:", "Model:", and "Driver:", fields for the detected printer. Important: If the recommended printer is an HP model, look above or below the selected printer for the same model followed by HPLIP. Choose this model instead of the recommended model. (HPLIP indicates official HP drivers).
  10. Click Forward.
  11. The "Description:" and "Location:" fields do not need to be filled in.
  12. Click Apply.
  13. The new printer will appear in the Printers panel.
  14. Right-click on the printer icon and choose "Make Default".
  15. To save the printer configuration settings, click Start > Administration > Save Configuration.
  16. Type in the administrator password and click OK.
  17. When the “Configuration saved” message appears, click OK.
  18. The printer is now ready to print.
