Vista Does Not Run on Inveneo Low Power Computers
From Inveneo
While many people are interested in installing Vista on the Inveneo Low Power computers, Inveneo does not recommend using Vista.
Vista's minium requirements are:
- 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 512 MB of system memory
- 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
- Support for DirectX 9 graphics and 32 MB of graphics memory
- Internet access
Inveneo Low Power Computers are not compatible with Vista requirments.
- There are no drivers for Vista.
- Vista was designed for multimedia and gaming enviroments, as such it requires a hefty graphics card. Since the Inveneo computer is designed to be low power, it does not have a fast enough graphics card for Vista. The graphics for the Inveneo computer do not support hardware acceleration of DirectX. As such, Vista will not be able to install.
- While minimum requirements only call for a 1GHz CPU, most users agree that Vista needs a dual core processor to run smoothly. Inveneo computers are not dual core because it would increase the power consumption.
- Again, while the minimum requirements only call for 1GB of memory for Vista, most users say Vista should have at least 2GB of memory. The maxium amount of memory an Inveneo Computer can use is 1GB.
- Many third party applications that work on XP are not compatible with Vista.
- To install Vista, users must be connected to the Internet; however, many users in developing areas do not have Internet access.
